Let’s walk through what happens when you launch an Atomic assessment, from the moment you start one to the results that lands back in the platform.
Starting an assessment
First, you select an asset in Edgescan and choose an assessment approach. This is the strategy that tells Atomic what to prioritize and how deeply to investigate. Options range from a broad balanced assessment to a focused look at business logic and authentication.
Most customers launch one when something changes: after a major release, an infrastructure update, or before a production milestone. You apply an Attack Credit, and Atomic goes to work.
How Atomic thinks
Atomic begins with the intelligence Edgescan already holds about your target, the mapped attack surface, discovered endpoints, and previously validated findings, turning them into a prioritized attack plan.
From there it works autonomously and adaptively. It explores the attack surface, forms hypotheses about where weaknesses might be, tests them, and chains individual issues into real attack paths, the way an attacker reasons across a whole application rather than checking one input at a time. As it learns more about the target, it revises the plan.
Autonomous penetration testing goes beyond scanning. Instead of pattern-matching against known signatures, Atomic can think like an attacker: planning, adapting, and validating attack paths as it goes.
How findings are validated
Speed means nothing without proof, so every finding is verified before it reaches you. Every finding is re-checked by a separate validator agent, independent of the one that found it. Anything Atomic has not actively confirmed is reported as suspected, never asserted as fact.
Proof is safe and non-destructive. Atomic demonstrates that an issue is real without damaging data or disrupting the application.
What you receive
An Atomic assessment delivers findings with the context to act on them: what the issue is, the risk it carries, and the evidence behind it, prioritized by real impact rather than raw severity.
Everything lands directly in the Edgescan platform, alongside your existing scanning and PTaaS results. Edgescan gives you a validated source of truth for security testing results, including vulnerability assessments, autonomous penetration tests and expert-led penetration tests.
Where Atomic fits
Atomic can start from zero. With Edgescan intelligence, it starts ahead. That head start is what makes it practical to run often, whenever change outpaces your testing schedule: after releases, before production, and in the space between expert-led PTaaS engagements.
AI and experts, better together
Atomic strengthens expert-led security validation. It does not replace it. Automation provides coverage, AI provides context, and certified experts provide assurance.
Used together, each does what it is uniquely good at, and you get depth and speed without giving up proof.
