The challenge we kept hearing
This did not start with a technology. It started with the same conversation, over and over, with our customers.
We have just released a major feature. We have migrated infrastructure. We have acquired another business. We cannot wait three months for the next pen test. We need confidence now.
The pattern was clear. The pace of change had outrun the rhythm of testing, and teams were living with weeks or months of uncertainty between penetration tests.
Traditional penetration testing remains essential
Human expertise is irreplaceable. Business logic testing takes an experienced consultant who understands what an application is meant to do and how to break it. PTaaS remains the foundation of modern security validation but we need to have the ability to rapidly test systems deeper than using automation alone and simulate what an AI-powered attacker might achieve. Whatever we built had to strengthen that foundation, not compete with it.
The question we asked ourselves
So we framed it as one question. How do we help customers validate security without necessarily needing expert-led penetration tests?
Not what features could we ship. Not which model to use. The question was about the customer’s problem: To provide confidence at the speed their environment actually changes in the age of AI-powered threats.
That is why we built Atomic
Atomic is our answer. It lets customers launch an autonomous penetration test to simulate an autonomous attacker whenever they need one, so they can increase testing frequency and gain confidence when required. It builds on everything we already do. It draws on Edgescan’s vulnerability intelligence and years of expert-led testing, and it extends PTaaS (Automation + Experts) with Autonomous agentic offensive testing. The detail of how it works comes at launch. The point for now is why it exists: to close the gap our customers kept describing and provide the ability to rapidly simulate an attack by an agentic threat agent.
This is just the beginning
Atomic is one step toward a larger idea of what security validation should be: AI-assisted, continuous, intelligence-led, and still grounded in human expertise, with customers in control of when and how they test.
