Modern applications do not stand still. Teams ship weekly, code changes, and new features appear between one assessment and the next. Security confidence, though, has traditionally had to wait for the next scheduled test or rely on automation.
Today, we are officially introducing Edgescan Atomic, AI-powered autonomous penetration testing built into the Edgescan Platform. It gives you the ability to rapidly launch a deep offensive assessment when you need one, simulating what malicious AI would do in a safe manner.
Meet Edgescan Atomic
Edgescan Atomic is our AI-native autonomous penetration testing solution, built into the Edgescan platform. It runs on demand, using agentic AI to simulate malicious AI or a determined attacker: goal-driven, reasoning, chaining findings, and validating what it finds.
But autonomy on its own was never the goal. An AI system is only as useful as the information and context it’s supplied with, and the controls around what it is allowed to do- the harness.
It is designed for the harder-to-see layer of modern application security: the access-control, authorization, and business-logic risks that automated scanning cannot reliably detect and that can go unnoticed between scheduled engagements. And although Atomic can start from scratch, it becomes significantly more effective when powered by Edgescan Intelligence. It can draw on previous findings, site maps, authenticated workflows, target metadata, and historical data already available within the platform. It is also backed by Edgescan’s experience, triaging more than 20 million vulnerabilities.
The Edgescan Harness provides the other essential piece. It sits between the AI’s reasoning and the actions it requests, enforcing scope, permissions and approved operations through deterministic controls. The AI can determine what to investigate next. The Harness determines what it’s allowed to execute
Don’t just give AI a target, give it intelligence and keep it within boundaries you control.
When should you run Atomic?
Run Atomic anytime to deliver deep, rapid agentic cybersecurity, simulating an AI-powered cyberattack after a major release or code change, before an audit or simply a regular robust, frequent assessment to keep pace with the threat of malicious AI.
Why Atomic is different
Atomic is natively built inside Edgescan as an agentic autonomous platform. Edgescan Atomic is different because it does not start from a blank target. It uses the application context, previous findings, authentication knowledge, and wider security intelligence already held in the Edgescan platform.
Its other major differentiator is controlled autonomy: Agentic AI can reason and explore attack paths, but the Edgescan Harness deterministically controls what it is allowed to execute.
And unlike many standalone autonomous pentesting tools, Atomic sits inside a broader model of continuous DAST, autonomous testing and expert-led PTaaS, with a clear path to human escalation.
Automation provides coverage. AI provides context. Human experts provide assurance. Atomic brings the three together.
The future of security validation
Atomic is the next evolution: an on-demand, AI-native that extends what your program already does, so security validation keeps pace with how software is actually built whilst simulating what malicious AI could achieve.
That is the thinking behind Atomic. We have brought autonomous offensive testing into a platform that already knows customers environments, place clear controls around it, actions, and made it available when a security question needs answering.
I believe that is how autonomous testing becomes genuinely useful, not a replacement for people and process customers trust, but another way to put the knowledge Edgescan has built to work. Atomic is available now, and I’m excited to show you what it can do.
